    Position

The Holy Cross Guest House is opposite the Abbey within a sober looking, granite building with a facade of more than 150 metres. It was initially designed as a monastery in order to accommodate the Benedictine community, who are responsible for the continuity of divine worship and the Liturgy within the Basilica, as well as the lodging of guests, who are a constant presence at the monastery. However, with the subsequent building of the new monastery and choir school, sheltered under the rocky elevation where the Cross stands, the “old monastery” was assigned as a Social Studies Centre and Guest House, open to the general public and managed by the Benedictine monks.
